Universal Recording Artist
Louise Yard teachings of the Bel Canto
Opera technique
I have been a student of Louise’s ever since the age of 18
yrs old. She has not only been an educator,
she has also become a very dear friend.
She has inspired me to work hard and has given me tools to
be the best singer I can be. I have been
a professional singer for the past 14 years and have felt the changes
in my voice as I advanced in the
technique. She is an extremely supportive teacher and a fantastic
person
all around.
Touring the world for my solo Pop career and even with Cirque Du
Soleil, I have felt the difference that having
a
technique such as the Bel Canto makes.
In many instances, fatigue, stress and
illness were experienced, but
regardless of my physical and emotional
state, Bel Canto gave me the tools to nevertheless, be able to perform
at a professional level.
Bel Canto is a fantastic approach which can turn any raw talent into a
gem. A fully developed voice in this
technique may be a long and difficult
road away, but the journey made with a teacher such as Louise
and the final product it provides, are
well worth the efforts.

Lead Singer/Composer/Lyricist
Fifteen years ago, I had the greatest opportunity and immense pleasure
of meeting Louise Yard, the most
valuable teacher of my existence as a
student.
Since, I have been studying and applying the teachings of the totally
unique BELCANTO TECHNIQUE
in its purest form for the past 15 years,
while commuting back and forth between Asia and Canada on a regular
basis for my work as a
professional Lead Singer.
As I write this reference, I am living
proof that this technique was and remains the only solution and answer
to
developing the strongest, most
natural and beautiful voice my person embodies.
My lessons with Louise, have given me the invaluable foundation to help
build a career that propelled me
to a successful international career as
Lead Singer of my own band while touring
the 5-star Hotel club
circuit for 6 years before I got married
and decided to take a break to focus on having a baby J
Without Louise’s teaching of
the BELCANTO TECHNIQUE, guidance, fine-tuning of my instrument on
a weekly basis, neither my voice nor my
career would have withheld the test of time. I
would not have
been physically prepared or able to
perform every imaginable style of music at this level of
professionalism,
6 nights a week, from 21:00 until 2:30am
respectively (some clubs until 4am!).
Through the years, I have
found Louise extremely professional, in tune, diligent, disciplined,
pedagogical,
passionate and crystal clear in
her approach to teaching this unique technique. She is most generous in
terms
of sharing her wealth of knowledge of
the technique in a caring and encouraging manner.
Louise works tirelessly at helping her
students find and develop their purest voice while remaining
consistently
dynamic and in tune with each
individual’s stage of vocal development.
After years of fruitless vocal lessons at both university and private
levels, less money in my pocket and even
less knowledge of my instrument, I began
to doubt my instinct and intuition, developed bad singing habits
and ended up with a tiny but
harmful node on my right vocal cord. I almost gave up.
My timely encounter with Louise Yard, was salvation in
itself. She has since become my vocal
“Guru” and
today, one of my dearest friends.
Together, we worked very hard at
deprogramming all of my bad singing habits, my node went away
“sans chirurgie”
thank you very much!, and when Louise
finally assessed that my vocal cords were
healthy once again, we started
building their strength, which in the long run, meant durability and
correct
“programming” or
“cell memory” if you will. The more focused I was
the more confident I became.
Louise and the BELCANTO TECHNIQUE were
proving to be healing mind, body and soul…
Although today, I am taking a break from my career to care for my
family, I remain musically active as
I record my own compositions
and continue my application of the BELCANTO TECHNIQUE.
Note that studying this technique from
abroad for too long is not usually recommended but by recording
each lesson, I was able to listen to my
teacher’s advice as we carried on with the lesson hearing my
mistakes
and the immediate correction of the
latter as Louise explained ever-so-clearly how to NOT repeat such
a
mistake.
The BELCANTO TECHNIQUE is undeniably the
most effective singing approach that I have
ever been introduced to and had the
pleasure of studying and APPYING. I firmly believe in this
deeply
rooted and divinely connected approach
to building a unique, pure and lasting instrument under the kind but
firm guidance of Louise A. Yard.
